On Tuesday night, The Voice aired its first results show of Season 20, as the Top 17 was narrowed down to the Top 9 heading into next week’s Semifinals. America voted for their favorites overnight after hearing Monday’s performances.
Tonight’s episode also featured the first Instant Save vote of the season, as four artists vied for the final spot. We had to say goodbye to eight talented artists — nearly half of the remaining competition.
‘The Voice’ Results: Who’s in the Top 9?
One artist on each The Voice team made it through thanks to America’s vote during the results. Each coach was then tasked with choosing an artist to save. Four artists were also put up for the Instant Save, for a chance at the final spot in the Top 9. The first eight contestants who made it through were as follows:
Team Kelly: Kenzie Wheeler (audience vote), Gihanna Zoë (coach’s save)
Team Legend: Victor Solomon (audience vote), Pia Renee (coach’s save)
Team Nick: Rachel Mac (audience vote), Dana Monique (coach’s save)
Team Blake: Cam Anthony (audience vote), Jordan Matthew Young (coach’s save)
Perhaps most notably, Blake Shelton didn’t choose to save his former bandmate Pete Mroz. Obviously, it wouldn’t be fair for Shelton to choose him by default, but things are bound to get a little awkward when coaches work with personal acquaintances — even if Shelton didn’t recognize him at first.
America also voted to keep Kenzie Wheeler in the competition, lending even more credence to Shelton’s prediction that he’ll win the whole season.
Who Won the Instant Save?
The artists from each team who had the second-most votes from Monday night were put into the Instant Save. They performed one song each, and viewers had five minutes to vote for their favorite. The artists who were up for the Instant Save on Tuesday were Pete Mroz, Jose Figueroa Jr., Ryleigh Modig, and Corey Ward.

America voted Corey Ward as the wildcard to complete the Top 9. He delivered an emotional performance of “Lose You to Love Me” by Selena Gomez, ending the performance in tears. His coach Kelly Clarkson raved about the performance, saying he has a “golden voice.”
We can’t wait to see what the remaining contestants have up their sleeves for next week’s Semifinals round.
